21 July 2021 - St Joe River Fishing Report

 Flows at Calder: 654 cfs

Weather: Sunny with a high of 76 F

Fishing:

Tips for summer fishing on the Joe: Fish early, be done early, and continue to focus on riffles, shaded runs, banks, and color transitions. Terrestrial season is here so make sure to have hoppers, ants, and beetles in your fly box.

Big dry fly foam patterns continue to produce on the St Joe until the sun is high. Options when the sun is high, put on a dropper or switch to a nymph rig. Stone size 8 and small bead head size 14-16 are picking up fish.

Hot Flies:

Sparkle Minnow, Pat's Rubber Leg, Chubby, Hoppers, Beetles, Ants, Purple Haze, PMD, BWO, Prince Nymph, Tungsten Bead Heads

Road Closure Updates:

Smoke has varied day-to-day depending on the wind. Gold Creek road is open if you are looking to access the upper St. Joe.

The main St. Joe River Road is still closed due to a rock slide at mile 68.
